Tired of wearing dentures that don’t fit? Miss eating the things you love? An All-on-X implant supported prosthesis may be the answer for you.
An All-on-X prosthesis combines 4 to 6 dental implants and the strongest material dentistry can offer. This is a fixed prosthesis meaning it cannot be removed by the patient but can be removed by the dentist for regular cleaning and maintenance. The outcomes are not only esthetically beautiful, but you are more importantly able to regain the ability to eat what you like and smile with confidence! Concerned about the cost of such treatment? While the treatment can be costly, our office offers multiple financing solutions to make it a feasible solution. Contact our office today about getting that smile and confidence back!
Am I candidate?
While every patient is different and results may vary, All on X can be a life-changing procedure for many individuals. There are many factors and planning that go into each case and
before proceeding, all patients must be screened by our implant trained, Dr. Squire, to determine which treatment option is best for you. However, if you are interested in the option or hesitant about moving forward, if you are able to answer yes to any of the questions below, you
may be a candidate.
- Do you suffer from periodontal disease or loose teeth?
- Are you missing 6 or more teeth?
- Do you have cavities on most of your teeth?
- Are years of dentistry, crowns, root canals, fillings, all having to be redone or failing?
- Are you unable to eat the things you love?
- Are you lacking confidence or hiding your smile?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions you may be a candidate for a life changing procedure! Contact our office at 757-436-0026 to schedule your consultation.
I’m a candidate, what’s next?
Appointment 1:
After scheduling your initial consultation, each patient’s health history and dental history will be reviewed. Additionally, a 3D CBCT image will be recorded to determine jaw bone architecture. Once approved by the Doctor, our front office will review financing options with you to get you squared away.
Appointment 2:
Additional records. If we are unable to collect all information at the first appointment, additional records will be taken that can include digital scans, more x-rays, bite measurements, and facial photography.
Appointment 3:
Surgery Day! Depending on if we are providing upper or lower teeth or both, the surgery can range from 2-5 hours of total time. With this being an extensive surgery, we prefer to keep our patients comfortable with some level of sedation and that would be discussed and decided upon during the initial two visits. Sedation helps not only to keep the patient comfortable but also help the doctor perform the surgery efficiently. At the day of surgery, patients can expect to leave with a new set of permanent, temporary teeth and a care package.
Follow Up Appointments:
For the first 3 months, our patients will be healing with their temporary set of teeth. While this temporary set is robust, there are some limitations that must be followed before moving into the final prosthesis. We typically schedule the following appointments for our patients after surgery: -24 hour follow up: Allows the doctor to review the case, answer questions, provide guidance while the patient is no longer sedated
1 month follow up:
This appointment gives the doctor a good idea of how healing is coming along or if any interventions need to be made to improve the outcome
3 month follow up:
At 3 months, we can predictably say that all implants are healed and the patient is ready to move into their final set of teeth. New impressions and photography will be taken to provide the best outcome to fit the patient.
Maintenance:
After placing the final set of teeth, the patient moves into our maintenance program. This program will include 6 month cleanings and annual x rays to make sure the implants stay healthy.
Frequently asked questions
Will I be in pain?
Patients can expect some mild to moderate discomfort the first few days after undergoing surgery. As a measure, a medication regimen is provided to the patient to help reduce inflammation, risk of infection, and pain.
How can I afford this procedure?
All on X is a big commitment financially. We understand that and are here to help by offering multiple financing options. Our practice accepts check, cash, and credit cards and also works with several financing companies to help reduce your payment to a monthly amount that fits into your budget. Take a look at our payment options page to get more info!
Can I eat right away?
For the first three months of healing, it is suggested that our patients stick to a soft food diet. For example, anything you can cook down in a crock pot is typically okay to consume. We ask that patients stay away from hard and crunchy foods, such as raw carrots, nuts, and candies.
How long can I expect the teeth to last?
All on X procedures, just like our natural teeth, have a lifetime. There are many factors that can affect the longevity of the implant health, but if patients are responsible with at-home care, personal health, and ongoing maintenance, All on X can last 20+ years for a patient!
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure typically takes 2 to 5 hours
