What is an overdenture?

An overdenture is a traditional denture that is secured in place by implants. Typically, overdentures involve a minimum of 4 implants on the top and 2 implants on the bottom jaw. This provides a noticeable difference over traditional dentures that have a tendency to come loose easily and move around while talking or eating.

Am I candidate?

While All On X is the gold standard for patient’s looking to restore lost dentition, overdentures do provide a great benefit to many patients. However, there are some limitations.

If patients have been long time denture wearers and have lost a lot of jaw bone they may not be able to support the placement of implants. Alternatively, smaller diameter implants can be used in many of these situations to help keep the denture secure. If you answer yes to any of the following questions, you may be a candidate for an overdenture.

  • Are you tired of your dentures feeling loose or coming out while talking or eating?
  • Are you tired of applying excessive adhesive to be able to keep your dentures in or eat the things you love?
  • Are you looking for a slightly more cost effective way to secure you dentures?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above you may be a candidate!
