What is a dental implant?

Dental implants have become the go-to solution for replacing missing teeth. While they do not perfectly replicate our natural teeth, they can provide all the functionality and in most cases the aesthetics that our natural teeth provide. The dental implant itself is essentially a titanium screw that is placed within the jaw bone. This may sound a little scary but with our 3D planning technology, we have the ability to plan and accurately place the dental implant to achieve the best possible outcome.

How long do dental implants last?

The life of a dental implant depends on many factors, however, if cared for well
through routine maintenance. A single dental implant can easily last 20 plus years.

Do dental implants hurt?

Dental implant surgery is a very straightforward surgery with very little to no postoperative discomfort. Typically our patients are placed on an antibiotic to help address the risk of infection, a steroid to reduce swelling, and a mouth rinse to keep the surgical area free of harmful bacteria. In addition, patients are recommended to take a combination of NSAIDs, tylenol and ibuprofen to help reduce discomfort.

If you are at risk of losing a tooth, if you are missing teeth, if you have dental work that is breaking down, a dental implant may be the best solution for you!
